Business Trip

The Daddy has just gone on his first business trip in 2.5 years.

Neither he nor I made any working trip since LQ arrived.

LQ can't quite grasp why Daddy needed to go to another country without mummy, her and gor gor. Pup sort of understood but the fact that he won't see Daddy for a few days only dawned upon him earlier tonight when they bade bye bye to the father.

Pup: How many nights will u be away?
Daddy: Only 3 nights.
Pup: 3 nights?! That's too long!
Daddy: It's not long. (making reference to a biz trip in June 12) I may have to be away for 14 nights. That's long...
Pup: 14 nights?? ( walking towards me) Mummy, why does Daddy need to be away for 14 nights? Where is he going?
Me: It won't be so soon la. Daddy will only  be going next year. Maybe to Hong Kong.
Pup: Hong Kong? Why don't we go with him. Mummy, you go and ask Daddy if we can go with him...
Me: That's a good idea. But I don't know whether we can go with him.
Pup: Why?

Me: Because he'll be working.

Pup: Mummy... can YOU just ask Daddy...?

The Daddy and I then tested the video chat function on Google Plus and explained to the kids that we would be able to see Daddy even if he's not in Sungapore.

Pup: Daddy won't be home tomorrow?Me: Nope. He 'll be in Hong Kong.
Pup:... ...
Pup: Mummy, can we wake up early tomorrow morning?
Me: Sure. But why?
Pup: I want to wake up very early tomorrow morning so that we can see Daddy's face on the computer.

Moments like these...priceless... :)

Transformer

When we bought our current HDB unit 8 years ago, we hadn't planned for kids. So, we hacked away walls and left just one complete room intact.

When Pup arrived, we left our home and moved lock, stock and barrel to Ah Gong's place for about 2 years. Then, LQ came along and Aunty M left, so we moved back and started modifying the limited space in our little 87 square metre unit to meet the needs of the two munchkins. It's an on-going process, and we constantly find ourselves adding and getting rid of furniture. Ikea membership has never been handier...

The latest transformation...our study table was taken out to make way for two small ones for the kids. Voila!

The Storyteller

LQ loves to share her experiences in school with us. This is unlike her brother whose response, everytime when we asked him what he did in school, was 'nothing'.

So for LQ, we always know who is the culprit when she comes home with a fresh bite mark; we'll hear the new songs that her teacher is teaching to the class; we'll find out who has been naughty and upset the teachers.

But apart from being a good reporter, like many kids, LQ has quite a knack in making up and telling stories too. :p She's been regaling her choice sleep buddy, the Daddy, with her adventure stories at bed time.

This was her story last night:

LQ: Today I bring baby to see doctor because baby is sick.
Daddy: Which doctor?
LQ: Dr Yip!
Daddy: Where's the clinic?
LQ: In the forest. Then, I carried baby home and put baby on the bed.
